Democracy by a stretch of the imagination

Thank heavens for that, then. In the referendum in Venezuela on Sunday, the constitutional reform project granting Chavez the right, among others, to be reelected indefinitely was rejected. With 88% of the votes counted, 50.7% of the voters said no, and 48.9% said yes.
However, with an abstention of 44.9%, there is a lot to be said about the results.
